What you'll do
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Program Manager, and working in a team environment, you will:
- Develop applied research and innovation capacity at NSCC by carrying out applied research in partnership with business and industry in the private and public sectors. Research outcomes are aimed at project-based teaching; community betterment as well as commercializing technologies that result from applied research projects generated by the College.
- Manage and coordinate a wide range of applied research projects and related activities.
- Assist the Program Manager in meeting applied research obligations related to external grants and contract funding.
- Assist the Program Manager in the development and implementation of applied research collaborations with industry partners.
- Work externally with industry and other business partners and work internally with faculty, staff, and students to meet the milestones and deliverables on research project contracts.

Qualifications
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a Degree or Diploma in an area relevant to Applied Research (for example, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences, or Health Sciences).
- A master's degree would be considered an asset.
- You have a minimum of 5 years (full-time equivalent) of occupational experience in a research and development environment .
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and email.
- Experience as a project manager coordinating multi-disciplinary applied research projects involving external partners and including subcontractors would be considered an asset.
- Experience working with industry and research partners in a collaborative project context would be considered an asset.
- Experience writing technical reports in collaboration with other researchers would be considered an asset.
- Experience working with post-secondary students in applied research setting to create rewarding and productive projects would be considered an asset.
