The University of Fredericton (UFred) is seeking a Creative Manager to help shape and execute our visual and creative strategy. This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategic thinking and hands-on design.

As our brand champion, you'll play a key role in developing and evolving UFred's creative identity-ensuring everything from digital content to marketing campaigns aligns with our institutional goals. You'll lead the charge in producing compelling, high-impact visuals and storytelling that drive engagement, strengthen our brand, and elevate the effectiveness of our marketing efforts.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Brand and Creative Leadership & Execution

  • Champion UFred's brand and visual identity, ensuring consistency and strategic alignment across all marketing initiatives.
  • Review and enhance marketing assets in collaboration with key stakeholders to assess needs and opportunities.
  • Develop updated toolkits (e.g., templates, frameworks) to empower internal and external contributors.
  • Maintain ownership and oversight of creative assets following their revamp.
  • Stay current with creative trends and best practices, applying them to advance and evolve creative execution.

Campaign Strategy and Asset Development

  • Participate in campaign strategy development, contributing creative insights and ensuring alignment between campaign objectives and creative execution.
  • Lead the development of campaign assets across multiple platforms (e.g., digital, print, video, social media) to support marketing initiatives and drive engagement.
  • Optimize creative assets across the full student journey to advance awareness, recruitment, engagement, and retention goals.
  • Develop compelling ad copy to enhance both paid and organic marketing efforts.
  • Lead creative strategy and execution for new academic program launches, working closely with marketing leadership to ensure strong positioning and storytelling.

Digital and Multimedia Production

  • Provide creative direction for the upcoming website refresh to strengthen brand representation and user engagement.
  • Lead the creation and execution of multimedia assets, including video and motion-based storytelling, to enhance UFred's marketing strategy and fill a crucial content gap.

Collaboration and Cross-Functional Work

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal marketing team members, external partners, and university stakeholders to deliver high-quality creative output.
  • Actively lead and manage relationships with third-party agencies to ensure alignment with creative and goals.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Multimedia Design, Advertising, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in creative leadership, graphic design, motion design, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated expertise in both creative strategy and hands-on execution.
  • Experience with web design and digital content creation.
  • Hands-on expertise in multimedia production, including video editing, motion graphics, and interactive storytelling (preferred).
  • Experience in brand and creative strategy to align visual identity, messaging, and institutional goals (preferred).

Skills

  • Proficiency in Figma for design and prototyping, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and other relevant design and multimedia tools.
  • Strong copywriting skills for marketing and advertising purposes.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing best practices, including social media, email marketing, and advertising platforms, with a strategic approach to content creation (preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Compensation Package

Hours of Work

This is a fulltime permanent position (35 hours) under regular business hours. The position is located in Fredericton, NB with the possibility to work remotely from anywhere in New Brunswick, and attend in-office meetings, as required. The ideal candidate should reside in New Brunswick or is willing to relocate.
